CATS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving substance abusers and homeless

men and women in San Francisco. 

 

CATS mission:              CATS helps those most in need get off the street, achieve stability and establish permanent

                                         housing by providing, compassionate, culturally sensitive services.

 

Date incorporated:         February 24, 1978

 

Objective:                       To provide a wide range of care for people with substance abuse, mental health

and chronic homelessness issues, CATS’ focus today is on the “hardest to serve” homeless, those who are multiply diagnosed with addiction, physical disabilities, and mental illness, as well as HIV+/AIDS sufferers, domestic violence victims, veterans, seniors and transgender people. 

 

CATS nine programs:    Respond to individuals at all points in the continuum of care from first response,

shelter, substance abuse treatment and relapse prevention to supportive housing. 

 

Our programs include Mobile Assistance Patrol (MAP) & San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team (SFHOT) - outreach and transportation;  A Woman’s Place - shelter, substance abuse and HIV services for women;  Medical Respite - care & temporary housing for medically frail homeless persons;  Golden Gate for Seniors and Redwood Center - residential substance abuse treatment;  Coronado Hotel & Eddy Street Apartments - transitional & supportive housing; and Homeward Bound - support for homeless individuals to return to their families.

 

CATS goals:                    Works towards helping to end homelessness in San Francisco,

our goals include promoting positive change and preventing street deaths, keeping homeless persons alive through outreach and safe non-exploitative programs.
