Mayor Gavin Newsom opened San Francisco’s Medical Respite and Sobering Center on July 1, 2009, the City’s newest facility providing temporary post-hospitalization care and sobering services for many of the City’s most vulnerable residents.

On February 3, 2011, CATS staff and board members attended the Black History Month Celebration hosted by CBS, Channel 5 at their television studios in San Francisco. The event was co-hosted by Urban Solutions.
The event offered an opportunity to network and visit
with the CBS late night on-air news team: Dana King, Ken Bastida, Dennis O'Donnell, and Roberta Gonzales as well as behind the scenes staff and outside community members.
