As the final element in successful life transformations, Eddy Street Apartments offers permanent, supportive housing for individuals on a low or fixed income. As with other CATS programs, Eddy Street Apartments embraces the harm reduction philosophy and is comprised of 3 components—the Direct Access to Housing (DAH) program for chronic alcoholics, HUMS (High Users of Multiple Systems), and Section 8 for low income tenants.
Groups and activities for tenants are provided by the San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team (SFHOT) and the staff of ESA. Some of the regular events include “First Cup”, a social event offering fresh fruit smoothies and soup/bread for all clients, “Power Group,” employment training for tenants and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) & Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings.
